There's a lot of myths out there about health and happiness, but we're here to set the record straight. Being fit and healthy has nothing to do with working yourself to death - in fact, it's quite the opposite.
0:00 my story is a little different I was a 0:02 former College athlete so I had this 0:04 identity you know when I was a young 0:06 professional yeah I'm an athlete I got 0:07 this right and so the challenge though 0:10 was like I totally went all in kind of 0:12 like you Micro Focus hyper focus on like 0:14 professional success and professionally 0:16 in the world of High Finance it's so 0:17 easy to basically have markers right so 0:20 your your first role you're gonna hit 0:21 100K plus and you got a Bonus beyond 0:24 that great okay the next metric is like 0:26 are you making a million anyway great 0:28 like and then a million plus you know 0:30 that those metrics were hit and it's 0:31 like for me uh it wasn't ultimately 0:33 sustainable right because 0:35 while I was hitting those professional 0:37 metrics I was just begging these about 0:39 them like life choices right you know I 0:41 wasn't working out I wasn't eating right 0:43 too much in and out right these things 0:45 that just led me to like looking healthy 0:48 professionally on LinkedIn but feeling 0:50 like you know total awful like just 0:52 terrible right I just wasn't doing 0:54 anything you know health-wise right and 0:56 so yeah I mean I think I went through 0:58 this phase and this is a little 0:59 embarrassing to admit I feel like once 1:00 this is getting fancy cars like you know 1:02 a fry for one example BMW I8 and the 1:05 funny thing was like I realized after I 1:07 got these I like not immediately but a 1:09 few days later I'd be getting buyers or 1:11 remorse right and it's just like and 1:13 little things would set me off this is 1:14 super embarrassing to admit but I would 1:16 see like somebody with a Rolls-Royce or 1:17 Bugatti like somebody like saw Carl it's 1:19 much nicer and I'd be like like just set 1:21 off and you're just like why right and I 1:24 realized in retrospect I was really just 1:26 trying to kind of you know paper over uh 1:28 the issues I had with like my health and 1:30 this is kind of tough to admit but like 1:32 I just didn't like looking at myself uh 1:34 in the mirror daily and it's just like I 1:36 viewed myself as an athlete right I 1:37 thought thought I was an athlete but 1:39 when I look at myself in the mirror in 1:40 the morning I was like where are they 1:41 having somewhere and so I think that had 1:43 um some issues with me Downstream and 1:45 you know mentally like I and this is 1:47 like a really funny photo it's true 1:48 though like mentally I was just like 1:49 always like Downstream not really happy 1:52 all the time this is like the worst when 1:53 I was a total blob today uh thanks to Dr 1:56 Ryan's intervention you know it took 1:58 time it didn't take it happen overnight 1:59 but you know today I'm like back 2:01 normally I didn't realize that getting 2:03 abs like for the first time in decades 2:04 would have such down sounds very vain 2:06 but I have such Downstream effects on 2:08 like my mental state like I feel like 2:10 I'm more stable uh more happier like 2:13 more positive and when things go wrong 2:14 right L's we call them losses 2:17 um I brain somewhere because like every 2:18 L leads to W and you know you got to get 2:20 the L's and and so it kind of reminds 2:22 you like a story that I was watching 2:24 watching this um The Rock was talking to 2:26 the Lakers you know his success because 2:28 he still sits an anchor and his anger is 2:30 a 4 30 am workout and that's the 2:32 intention for his day and it's just 2:33 amazing that you know no matter what 2:35 he's done he always finds time to do 2:37 that right one of the men centers that 2:38 we really look up to is uh you know 2:41 redalion he basically has this really 2:43 interesting kind of graph about progress 2:45 and about personal success and this kind 2:47 of applies to a lot of our Founders 2:49 entrepreneurs and business owners and 2:50 Executives right and so those 2:52 individuals are really good at kind of 2:53 working through uh one two three four 2:55 and five right for everyone else like 2:57 people that depend on them their 2:58 employees like feel they Mentor right 3:00 but sometimes they'll maybe they're like 3:02 me where like you get stuck in these 3:04 like negative Cycles where you don't 3:05 have somebody helping you out with I 3:07 didn't have that and I would kind of 3:08 negatively spiral downward and you know 3:09 I think success is like really 3:11 professional like not not overnight for 3:13 me and you know micro adjustments are 3:15 required and so like you know I'd assume 3:16 like Dr Ryan is really big on the big 3:18 three which is like diagnostic testing 3:20 what's wrong with you what are your 3:21 constraints are right what is it to sell 3:22 us like how do we customize your daily 3:24 habits of hydration and workouts and how 3:26 to reprogram you how do we have you know 3:27 accountability if it's bi-weekly zooms 3:29 or app or tracking and really how do we 3:31 kind of you know speed it all up with 3:33 Therapeutics and supplements and things 3:35 that can kind of reverse uh your 3:36 internal function right and so even 20 3:38 year olds can quote rent Ferraris and 3:40 nice cars and the Bugattis on something 3:42 called turo right and so that like it 3:44 Hollows out like the idea of having a 3:46 fancy car but just getting back to it 3:48 like a physique or anything Career 3:49 Success or anything that can't be taken 3:51 away from you right it's something you 3:52 have to like really commit to something 3:53 you have to build I'm just amazed how 3:55 simple like tidbits like optimizing your 3:57 physique and just kind of getting to 3:58 that that level that you're happy with 4:00 that you're super happy with the looking 4:01 person in the mirror that has so many 4:03 Downstream effects in her personality 4:04 professionally and so on 4:06 foreign
